NAVARINO MERI-MAIDS HOMEMAKERS
The Navarino Merimaids were organized in 1939. The women met at members homes in the early years. The homemakers were instrumental in 1958 petitioning the State to install the railroad crossing signals on county highway W now State Highway 156 in Navarino. In 1994 the homemakers were name the club of the year in Shawano County. The homemakers have provided cookies, bars, coffee and juice at elections for many years. Another activity of the homemakers is to send out Valentines to the senior citizens of Navarino. The homemakers support the Navarino/Lessor First Responders by baking pies for Navarino Days, the food pantry and other worthwhile projects in Navarino. Today the group meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month from September thru April at the Navarino Town Hall.
